My story

I'm Claire, a passionate placenta specialist and owner of Blossoming Placentas.  Thank you for visiting the Blossoming Placentas website. I hope you find the website insightful and thought-provoking, and if you were looking into the benefits of consuming your placenta you are now confident that it's a great investment.

I left school to work as an apprentice in a photographic studio and darkroom, something that i was lucky enough to have the opportunity to do because of my love for photography. I then went on to travel the world working as Cabin Crew for Monarch and then Virgin Atlantic. The plan was to fly for a year and then go back into photography. However, the lifestyle was too good to leave! I stayed for 15 years during which time i went part time when i had my 2 children. The opportunities to take my husband and children away with me was fantastic. We even got married in New York. In the end it was time to hang up my wings.

After having a break from professional photography, working as cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic and having our 2 children, I established my own photographic business. For the last 4.5 years I have been specialising in birth documentary. From the moment I captured my first birth I was hooked! I knew birth and motherhood is what I had to specialise in.

Being in the birth space as a photographer gave me the perfect opportunity to learn and observe so much surrounding labour, birth and the moments after birth. This is where i developed my passion for placentas.

Even though i'd had my 2 children, i was so naive to how amazing birth was. I began to be a cheerleader for my parents and encouraging both mum and dad when they began to get tired or disheartened because things weren't progressing the way they had hoped. I had heard about doulas and had, briefly, looked into it but it was after several people suggesting i should become a doula that i took the leap and trained with Developing Doulas to become an 'official' doula. I have never looked back! My documenting of labour and birth and being in the birth space as a doula nurtured my fascination, and later passion for placentas. So much so that i chose to write my final piece of coursework for my Doula Accreditation on placentas. So, i guess my passion for placentas was always there.

One of things i was doing in my role as a doula was packing placentas ready to be collected by specialists to be transformed in postpartum remedies, mainly capsules. In a lightbulb moment whilst i was placing a placenta into a chill pack ready to be collected, i thought to myself  "why am i not doing this?" It was a no brainer, especially with my passion for placentas. I researched for courses to become a placenta specialist and found a great training course with IPEN. I thought i knew quite a bit but actually researching and learning about the consumption of placentas throughout the course, i learnt so much more, especially about the cultures that have never stopped consuming their placentas, unlike us in the western world. I have read and had so much personal feedback saying how well people felt after taking their capsules, it makes me smile every time.

I pride myself on offering a personal service. I always deliver your chiller pack in person around 2-3 weeks before your estimated due date and then try to collect the placentas in person as well. I like to deliver the finished product to you in person as much as possible to. Even during the preparation of your placenta i make sure there is positive energy surrounding it - not even my husband knows this but i tend to sing, very badly, when i'm preparing placentas, normally some 80's cheese, generally Bananarama, sometimes the Spice Girls!

So, there you have it. This is me.
